Good Stewards Custom Lumber

Every year, especially after storms, our landfills receive numerous trees.  Many, if not most, of these trees are a viable source for good lumber.  Good Stewards Custom Lumber (GSCL) strives to utilize these trees that would otherwise be thrown away or burned.  Licensed as a tree service, GSCL also harvests damaged or dying trees at a very competitive rate. 

These trees are milled into custom boards or beams for sale.  GSCL is also a licensed manufacturing facility so the lumber we mill locally may be used in the construction of items from the most basic such as benches, fence panels, and other outdoor furniture to beautiful hand-crafted furniture for use in your homes.  Through these efforts, GSCL strives to be a good steward of the natural resources available literally in our own backyards rather than having our landfills collecting such useful supplies.

David Card is the owner of Good Stewards Custom Lumber. 

 

Prior to 2004, David had limited supplies harvesting the locally damaged trees from bark beetle damage or drought.  Due to the storms of 2004 (Frances and Jeanne struck his home town area directly), David determined to share his resources since so many trees had been damaged from these storms.  David is experienced in climbing, limbing, and topping trees to felling the entire tree.  In addition to this, David has several years experience as a sawyer (sawmill operator) both in band mill and circle mill operations.

SWING ARM MILL

Good Stewards Custom Lumber currently owns and operates a Lucas Mill swing-arm circle mill.  This mill has a proprietary blade on it enabling him to mill the hardest of logs with relative ease.  The old growth Southern Yellow Pine and Australian Pine (also known as ironwood or beefwood) are notably difficult to mill.  The mill at Good Stewards Custom Lumber has successfully milled these types of trees along with Live Oak, Laurel Oak, and Eastern White Cedar.

Besides having custom milling available, David has a full woodworking shop in which he constructs projects such as picnic tables, bird houses, benches, bookshelves, tables, and cabinets.  Browse our site to see some photos of past projects.
